Camp
''I applied to Camp America because I was coming out of college and I did not want to fall into the ‘norm’ of going straight to University and heading straight into a career, and I saw Camp America as the perfect opportunity to take a different path.
One of my favourite moments from my last summer was 4th of July! We started the day with fireworks instead of the wake up bell at 7:30am along with American Anthems blasting camp-wide! Followed by a day long 4th of July programme and ending the night with a campfire and an incredible fireworks show (that even the locals on the lake parked their boats to watch!).
Camp definitely stays with me today. I have an insane amount of camp t-shirts now. I’m pretty sure I could fill a wardrobe with how many camp related shirts I have. The directors from my camp also send Christmas cards and other holiday related well wishes all year round! I also have the ‘Yearbook’ from each year at camp which I can look back at all the amazing moments from each summer.
In a way, camp has influenced my career path. As well as doing Photography, I now work for Camp America as a local interviewer, so I can now help others to have the same experiences I did! Three years ago I did not have a clear goal or motivation for a career, but now my life revolves around camp not just in the summer, but all year round!
I've done tonnes of travel after my summers at camp. Myself and a guy from New Zealand (that I met at Camp) went to Miami and LA and I loved both of them! I got to climb to the Hollywood sign and I saw some of the best sunsets I have ever seen! I plan to travel to Yosemite National Park and potentially some other national parks in the 2019 season!"
