Camp Overview
Join us at the nation’s oldest continuously operating Girl Scout Camp as we move into our second century of building girls of courage, confidence & character. At Camp Bonnie Brae girls get to choose from program themes that match their interest and spend part of their time doing activities with girls from their group. Three afternoons each week, girls will get a chance to explore their own desires through Camper Choice activities. Girls will individually choose activities that could range from spending the entire afternoon at the waterfront, exploring their creative side in arts & crafts, or mix it up with a trip to the archery range and a dance session. It’s their time to spend how they want. Explore the traditions of wish boats, girl-led programming, island swims and so much more. Girls who attend Camp Bonnie Brae will get a chance to join more than a century of tradition, girl power and camp magic.

Counsellor Roles:

Hmm... What's your role?
Staff Time Off
Staff receive 2.5 hours off each full working day where they are welcome to relax in the staff lounge, do laundry, shower or go off site. Staff receive a full 24 hours off every 7 days. In addition staff receive one evening off a week from after dinner until 11pm. Camp is a demanding work environment, so it is vitally important that staff use that time to recharge. Recharging looks different for each person – a nap, a long walk, a (hopefully) hot shower, curling up in a hammock with a good book, or a phone call home.
Staff Qualities
Counselors are assigned one patrol of girls with whom they spend the majority of the week. The counselors help strengthen group bonds, serve as a role-model, mediate conflicts within the group, and foster friendships. Counselors also plan and lead activities, ensure safety procedures are followed, supervise (and instruct) kapers, make sure the unit is kept tidy, facilitate night-time Cabin Chats, and generally supervise their patrol. Activity Staff spend most of the day facilitating program in their assigned activity. This includes enforcing safety protocols, maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and keeping the area clean. Some activity staff have additional, specific assigned responsibilities. All staff are also expected to participate in all-camp activities including campfire songs and skits, leading group games, leading Interest Groups, leading songs in the dining hall, and calling meals.
