Camp Overview
Camp Burgess and Hayward is located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, just an hour and a half away from Boston. CBH is COED: boys and girls enjoy separate sleeping and dining areas but come together for a wide range of engaging activities: High Ropes, Swimming, Paddle Boarding, Sailing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Arts and Crafts, Jewelry Making, Sewing, Scrapbooking, Volleyball, Farm, Performing Arts, Soccer, Fitness, Landsports etc.
We cater to campers aged 7 to 16 who typically stay with us for two-week periods. Our goal is to provide them with an unforgettable and transformative summer experience filled with fun, personal growth, and lasting friendships. As a member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for our campers to thrive. To ensure that our staff is well-prepared for the summer, we have a comprehensive counselor training program that begins on June 15th and lasts for one week before the arrival of the campers. This training will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently engage with the campers and deliver exceptional programming throughout the summer.
Prior to the start of the summer season, we also offer optional Zoom information sessions to familiarize you with our camp's values, traditions, and expectations. These sessions are a great opportunity to ask questions, meet fellow staff members, and get a head start on your Camp Burgess and Hayward journey.

Staff Time Off
CBH is located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, which is the epitome of a USA summer! Ocean beaches, quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, fun stores, the list goes on! On your time off, you can explore Cape Cod or hop on a bus to Boston to catch a Red Sox game, visit Boston Common or visit Quincy Market!
Typically, CBH campers stay for 2 weeks, we refer to the 2 weeks campers are here as a ‘session’. Each session, you will have two periods of time off: 48 hours AND 24 hours. Staff members can request specific dates or specific people for time off. Staff are welcome to stay onsite when they have time off but it is typically to go and visit Boston or stay at a new friend's house!
We offer rides into our nearest town, Hyannis, where you can explore the beach, the mall or the main street full of restaurants and stores. Hyannis also has a bus station where buses regularly go to Boston or other towns on Cape Cod.
