Camp Overview
Camp Lohikan is a residential summer camp for boys and girls aged 6 to 15, located in the northeast Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania in Wayne County. We're about 2 1/2 hours from New York City.
Since 1957 Camp Lohikan has been owned and operated by the Buynak Family. For 62 summers the Buynak Family and Camp Lohikan's staff have provided campers with a safe, supportive environment to make friends, professional instruction to learn new skills and sharpen old ones, and a friendly atmosphere where fun happens all the time!
Our campsite is situated on 1200 acres and located high in the northeast Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. The campus is surrounded by preserved forested landscape and overlooks picturesque streams, a private lake and miles of mountain vistas. The mountain air at a quarter mile above sea level is clean and dry. Summer days are typically warm and nights are cool. It's the ideal location for summer camp!
Our facilities are among the best in camping!... Heated swimming pool, private lake with 50+ boats, on-premises stables with 30 horses and 7 miles of trails, over 40,000 square feet of indoor activity facilities, 11 tennis courts equipped with lights, 6 basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), 4 regulation sports fields, extensive adventure program and ropes course, indoor & outdoor theaters (fully equipped), 14 arts & crafts workshops, awesome skate park, circus arts center, modern cabins with showers... Lohikan has it all!
Nothing is more important than our staff and we know it. If you are a hard working individual who enjoys children, you may be just the person we're searching for. Staff members must be able to put kids first at all times. It is also essential that staff members be strong role models for our campers. And because we're working with kids, we have strict policies in many areas including alcohol, smoking, curfew, etc. While it is preferable that our staff members have some experience working with children, this is not a prerequisite. Many program areas require skills and certifications to safely operate and this is a priority.

Staff Time Off
For Our Counselors and Senior Staff: Days-Off: Except for the first and last week of the staff member’s employment and the Staff Orientation period, the staff member shall have one (1) day-off scheduled per week, which will commence the night before at approximately 7:30pm and extend to 12:30am of the night of the day-off for a block of 29 hours.
During the camp season of 8 weeks, there is a total of 6 days-off. The staff member’s specific day-off is made in accordance with program and cabin coverage considerations. If an employee must have a specific date scheduled as a day-off, Camp Lohikan must be notified prior to the execution of this contract. Nights-off: Nights-off commence after flag lowering (generally 7:30pm) and end at 12:30am.
There are two nights-off scheduled each week except for the first and last weeks of the camp’s 8-week season. There is one night-off scheduled the first and last week of camp. One of the staff member’s nights-off is scheduled the night before the staff member’s day-off, which will provide the staff member with a block of free time amounting to 29 hours. In the past this has given staff members an opportunity to leave campgrounds and travel with friends.
The second night-off is scheduled later in the week and commences after flag lowering assembly (usually 7:30pm) and extends to 12:30am.
Staff Qualities
