Camp Overview
Camp Mystic is a private Christian summer camp for girls. Mystic is located in the very center of Texas, in a very green and fertile area called the Texas Hill Country, where there are lots of hills, trees and rivers. Mystic strives to provide young girls with a wholesome Christian atmosphere in which they can have fun, form lasting friendships, and develop outstanding personal qualities and self-esteem.
Camp Mystic is actually two different summer camps (Camp Mystic Guadalupe River and Camp Mystic Cypress Lake) that are right next to each other. Both camps are extremely similar in its program and facilities, though the Guadalupe River camp is older and has more campers.

Staff Time Off
All staff and counselors get 3 days off for each long session and 1 day off for each short session. There is also time off in-between sessions. During the sessions, all counselors get 3 nights off a week. Most of our staff and counselors like going into Kerrville, San Antonio, Austin and San Marcos on their days off.
Staff Qualities
It takes a special person to be a Camp Mystic counselor. We hire young women who will be positive role models, have genuine love of children, and truly want to spend time with the cabins of campers they are assigned to. Counselors should: be wholesome in language, appearance, and action, be willing to comply with all camp policies, and be outstanding examples to our young girls. Counseling does involve hard work, but it is so rewarding that you will feel you had a happy, fulfilling summer.
Counselors have the dual role of teaching an activity and serving as a cabin counselor. Two or three counselors reside in each cabin, with an average of sixteen campers per cabin. Cabin life is the most important aspect of a child’s camping experience, and it is the counselor’s main responsibility to make cabin life fun, harmonious, and uplifting.
