Camp Overview
Camp Nejeda has been providing empowering summer camp and other programs for children with type 1 diabetes and their families since 1958. We serve campers ages 7-16 over three 1-week sessions and two 2-week sessions. Sessions are age-specific and offer all the activities such as archery, climbing wall, off-camp trips, swimming, boating, and arts & crafts, but the Camp Nejeda experience also provides hands-on learning opportunities for campers to learn how to better manage their diabetes, make healthy food choices, and maintain a good attitude about living with diabetes. Counselors provide leadership and guidance to a cabin group of campers, lead activities, and participate fully in the camp program. They are supported by a fantastic team of Nurses, Diabetes Technology Specialists, Doctors, a Dietitian, and a Social Worker who manage the medical needs of the campers.
