Camp Overview
A traditional, 7-week residential camp, Scatico will celebrate its 104th anniversary of family ownership in 2025. Located on two spring-fed lakes on 250 acres in the Hudson Valley, Scatico is located two hours north of New York City.
A true brother-sister camp, meaning there are two distinct campuses on one property, Scatico has 135 girl campers and 135 boys between the ages of 7 and 15. We are a close-knit community where campers and counselors of all ages know each other's names, and where most return summer after summer. While many of our campers are from the New York-area, we have campers from over 18 states including Florida, California and Texas. We also have international campers from Spain, Hong Kong, Austria, the UK, Ecuador, and France.
Scatico looks to provide the skills, values, friendships and memories that make traditional summer camps a life-enriching experience. We do this by creating a nurturing community and providing a fun and balanced program. From an outdoor adventure project to a tennis tournament, a show rehearsal to an evening basketball game, Scatico's program includes all activity areas. We resonate with families looking for a values-based, traditional camp experience; a not-too-large camper population; directors very involved in the day-to-day life of campers and staff; and a structured daily schedule that is group-oriented yet also provides opportunities for individual choice.
At Scatico, our staff are part of our camp family. We’re lucky to have some of the highest staff return rates in the industry, and we prioritize making the camp experience one that is a meaningful opportunity for growth, adventure, and friendship for our staff. From special staff participation in programming like tournaments and talent shows, to close mentoring with supervisors, to resources for time off, we know that the single most important ingredient to a successful and rewarding experience for our campers is fulfilled and happy staff!

Staff Time Off
Staff can expect at least one activity period off per day, during which they are welcome to relax in the Staff Lounge or take advantage of camp’s facilities. Additionally, counselors are off 3-4 nights/ week, in which Scatico provides transportation to nearby towns and destinations (think restaurants and bars, movie theaters, ice cream outings, etc.). Cabin counselors get 5 days off over the course of the summer. Days off start at 7PM the previous day, and end midnight the day of the day off. We offer transportation within a 45- minute radius of camp, or drop off at the local train station (with service to NYC). Days off might include... trips to local “beach,” hiking, watersports, visiting nearby towns, trip to NYC, or simply relaxing (and sleeping!) in camp.
