Camp Overview
Capital Camps is the premier Jewish overnight camp serving campers ages 8-17 from the Greater Washington DC area, and Maryland and Virginia. Our talented staff provide experiences full of laughter, friendship, and memories while challenging campers to try new things, to be independent, and to grow as individuals. Bunk based counselors work as cabin counselors and in a variety of specialist areas including sports, arts, outdoor adventure, lake and pool aquatics. Located just 70 miles from Washington DC, on a lovely retreat center facility, Capital Camps is the perfect place to spend a summer working with first-class staff from around the world. In addition to a superb group of returning campers and staff, we also welcome new staff from England, Israel, and around the United States.

Staff Time Off
Staff members either take 24 hours at a time or a longer block (typically around 40 hours). In most cases, staff members leave camp. We are conveniently located one hour from the Greater Washington DC area. We assist staff members with home hospitality and/or hostel arrangements.
Staff Qualities
As a staff member at Capital Camps, all staff members should be able to serve as a positive role model for campers of all ages. Additionally, we look for the following core competencies in all staff:
- Develops positive relationships with individual campers and staff.
- Adapts well to feedback / criticism, always yearning to learn/grow as a professional and as a person.
- Reacts to complex situations, making quick decisions and solving problems.
- Collaborates with staff members and supervisors, and asking for help when needed.
- Pays attention to detail.
