Camp Overview
Berkshire Lake Arts Camp offers one- and two-week sessions for girls ages 7-15. We provide top-tier dance, theater and visual arts instruction, plus all the magic of traditional summer camp. This makes us the best of both worlds! A place where creativity and summer camp meet to nurture girls to become their best selves.
Thanks to our small program size, intimate site and low counselor-to-camper ratio (1:3), each girl receives individual attention, learning and care, and feels deeply connected to our diverse and intentionally built community. We foster a warm and welcoming sisterhood where girls feel comfortable being their authentic selves, creatively and socially. When she leaves camp, we hope each girl has made deep friendships and has grown in her skills, her independence and her self-confidence.
We offer performing arts - theater (vocal coaching, acting, musical theater dance) and dance (jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, tap). We also offer visual arts (fine arts, ceramics, jewelry, 3D printing, printmaking, digital arts).
We complement our excellent arts programs with traditional camp activities that are just plain fun, including: swimming, paddling, stand up paddleboarding, fishing, tubing, archery, outdoor living skills, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, traditional arts & crafts, and yoga.
A large majority of our staff are activity instructors who teach in the arts or work as lifeguards at our waterfront, so we are always looking for staff with a lot of skills and experience in the artform they’re passionate about. We provide training for interested lifeguards.
Our activity instructors also double as bunk staff - meaning if you’re teaching ceramics, you’ll also have an age group of girls you’re assigned to care for during cabin times. Staff are assigned 3 to a bunk with between 8-10 campers. Our bunks are practically brand new and nicely appointed. They have their own bathrooms and showers in them.
We also hire other staff to support camp operations in the kitchen or in housekeeping. These staff live in bunks very similar to the camper bunks with other support staff.

Staff Time Off
Staff receive 24 hours off per 2-week session, plus time off between each session changeover. Exact schedules vary by position. During time-off staff can venture into the nearby town - or stay on camp and enjoy camp’s beautiful setting and community. Many of our staff love to use their time-off to make their own art or sit in on a camper dance class or paddling class, for example! Staff are provided a lounge space with high-speed WiFi to relax in.
Staff Qualities
Above everything else, we are deeply committed to changing our campers’ lives through the power of a supportive all-girls camp experience. We are looking for individuals for our staff who want to be role models, who are just as committed to that mission as we are.
The ideal candidate for any position on our team is warm, creative, open-minded, positive, mature, self-aware and flexible. They have a strong work ethic and value good communication. We also look for staff who are enthusiastic and have a sense of humor - especially if you’re willing to put yourself out there and be silly and expressive!
Berkshire Lake Arts Camp seeks to create a sense of belonging for all of our campers and staff, and we value fostering an inclusive and diverse camp community. All applicants should share a similar commitment to inclusivity.
