Camp Overview
Galilee is an Episcopal summer camp that offers a meaningful and adventurous program for kids ages 7 to 17. The camp is located right on the shore of Lake Tahoe, one of the most breathtaking sites of natural beauty in the world. Adventure programs include overnight backpacking trips, rock climbing at local sites with the kids, kayaking along the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe, and going on hiking trips around the Tahoe Basin. Counselors and kids will sleep in cabins or in one of the two tipis we have on site and enjoy wonderful, healthy meals cooked with mostly locally sourced ingredients. For those not already certified lifeguards, May 29th would be our starting date with the counselors where they will be getting lifeguard and cpr/first aid certified and then staff training and programs go from June 4th until August 4th. Sessions are one week long with roughly 40 campers attending each week. Galilee is an Episcopal Camp but our campers and staff are not required to have religious affiliation, with roughly 1/3 of our campers being Episcopal. Our core values are; Spiritual growth: Galilee is a safe haven for youth and adults to discover their relationships with God and enhance their personal growth. Respect for the individual: We see God in each guest and will treat that individual, regardless of race, heritage, lifestyle or circumstance, with open arms, dignity and respect. Respect for nature: We will demonstrate a reverence for our magnificent environment and commit ourselves to educating others on the stewardship of our natural world. Community: We aim to provide nurturing and inspiring experiences in community based on love and acceptance of others. Galilee's motto is All Are Welcome and we truly live and act by that.
