Camp Overview

Camp Lakota has been home to generations of campers! Nestled in the Tejon pass of Southern California this camp is just 1.5 hours from downtown Los Angeles and this camp is a hidden gem of classic camp activities! From the thrill of horseback riding, swimming in the sparking pool, zip lining, taking aim at archery, low ropes, high ropes, and enjoying new friendships around the flickering campfire, Lakota truly has something for everyone.

Staff work hard to build a supportive, nurturing environment, campers are empowered and challenged to discover themselves. Lakota offers organized camp activities for Troops, families, and individual campers throughout the summer. Great fun and summer adventures are here for you!

Staff Time Off

Each week staff will receive one day off (24 hours). Each full day of camp, staff have a 2-hour break for self-care. On days off you are welcome to stay at camp where there is access to food (you may need to heat) and lodging will be provided.

Staff Qualities

Oversee in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers and staff in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.

Responsible for developing a unit schedule that encompasses the program specific promises, aligns with all camp program and meets the needs of campers and staff in designated unit.
Role model basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
Assure campers are always properly supervised.
Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.

Activity Specialist

Develop and deliver an activity program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers. Positions specialize in one of the following: High ropes, archery, lifeguard, equestrian,

Design and deliver progressive and varied activities that uses resources efficiently. 
Expand the camp’s activities with new ideas and initiatives. 
Develop and utilize new teaching, processing, and debriefing tools. 
Evaluate the success of the activity.
