Camp Overview
Since 1946, Herzl Camp has been inspiring young Jews to grow, learn, and be curious about the world and those in it. We take pride in creating shared experiences (from the ridiculous to the sublime) in order to foster lasting Jewish friendships, build identity, community, and a sense of belonging throughout our lives. Joining our team means you will make connections and build skills that will be beneficial long after you depart the shores of Devils Lake in Northwestern Wisconsin. Most of our staff are home-grown, meaning they were once campers at Herzl and now giving back to the next generation of Herzl campers. That is what makes YOU unique and important! You may or may not be Jewish, but you will add to the diversity of camp, bring fresh ideas and experiences, and be welcomed into the Herzl family.

Staff Time Off
Bunk Life and Activity Specialist staff receive up to 7 (24 hour) days off for the summer. Typically this is 2 - first session and 2 - second session from 12:00 PM - 12:00 PM (lunch to lunch). Staff also get 1 day before the first session, and a 2-day intersession before the second session. Some specialists may be off Friday night to Saturday night. In addition, staff have 2-3 opportunities to leave camp on Town Nights depending on coverage in camp.
Staff Qualities
We want staff to understand that camp is both FUN and a REAL job. If you’re not a pro, that’s ok! We want you to have a passion for working with kids and teaching life skills that will help campers navigate life. We are looking for staff who are intrinsically motivated, have strong communication skills, work well on a team, and know how to manage their time. Our best staff have the ability to improvise when things don’t go according to plan and have fun doing it!
