Camp Overview
Since 1927, our 26 acre camp has made its home on the north shore of beautiful Lake Wenatchee, just off Highway 2 in north central Washington State. We are 21 miles west of Leavenworth and 25 miles east of Stevens Pass. We are located approximately 2.5 hours east of Seattle.
Camp is for people who love working with kids and roughing it in the outdoors. The ideal staff member enjoys hiking, camping, and cooking over a fire. They don’t mind becoming a human paint canvas, nor do they mind the insects or rodents, and can survive without a shower everyday. Staff must feel comfortable working as a part of a team, have the desire to pitch in when needed and stay positive throughout these experiences. The staff must be able to uphold the standards and policies and be willing to live in an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free living environment. This will be a challenging and rewarding summer job experience!
Camp is a rustic living environment, with several modern conveniences. Most cabins sleep 8 people and have electric lights. While all cabins have windows and doors, small critters will likely visit from time to time. Showers and restrooms are centrally located in our main lodge with additional Showers and restrooms located in the Outdoor Environmental Education Building. Camp has a somewhat rugged and hilly terrain, with temperatures in the summer ranging from 10 to 40+ degrees Celsius.
Cabin Leaders live in cabins with 5-8 campers, and spend much of their day with that group. Throughout each one-week session, cabin leaders act as friends, teachers, and role models for campers and have unbelievable opportunities to have a positive impact on campers’ lives. During their time as program staff, cabin leaders will assist with cabins where possible, as well as running one of the program areas in camp, which may include life-guarding, archery, or working in the kitchen.

Staff Qualities
We are looking for people who believe what we believe. Is this you? We believe in the transformative power of camp - Simply put, Camp changes lives. Campers and staff develop lifelong friendships and memories here every summer.
We believe that the normal is absurd and that the absurd is normal - Some may look at our camp traditions as absurd. Turn on the news and you see examples of how the world treats each other. We think that is absurd! At camp it is normal to treat each other with love, respect, caring, honesty and responsibility...and, to sing songs with a mouth full of marshmallows.
Camp is an example of how the world could/should be...and we're proud of this!
We believe that everyone belongs at Y-Camp - Every person has value and deserves to be loved and accepted for who they are. We often describe ourselves as a "camp family" as there is a bond formed here that is unique. The fact that we get to be on this lake, with these people is what sets Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp apart.
We transform lives! We empower youth! We change the world! Join Us!
