Camp Overview
One Heartland is a non-profit residential camp in Minnesota. Our programs primarily serve youth in the LGBTQ+ community; we also have a week for youth affected by HIV/AIDS, and a family camp for LGBTQ+ families.
Camp is in a remote area and spread out, you can expect to spend a lot of time outdoors in nature and walking around between activities. Our main camp activities include swimming, canoeing, fishing, climbing wall, low and high ropes courses, drama, archery, art, and sports, along with some activities specific to the populations of campers we serve.

Staff Time Off
Staff have a minimum of two hours off each day, spent at camp. Staff will have a full 24 hours off before each session (usually Friday afternoon/evening to Saturday afternoon/evening, usually one week apart), that can be spent at camp or somewhere else, as well as additional time off during our two 2-week sessions. We try to provide transportation for trips off camp for international staff on days off as much as possible, although cannot guarantee it every week. We have a staff lounge for time off with wifi, kitchen, movies, etc.
Staff Qualities
Most importantly: staff who enjoy spending time with children ages 7-17 and are excited to respectfully work with and celebrate the identities of young people from the populations we serve.

Additional qualities we look for: Communication, collaboration, open to new experiences, flexibility, ability to empower and encourage others, team oriented, creativity, positive role model, resiliency, initiative.
For a few positions (specialist positions) we look for activity leading/teaching skills, and experience with a specific area like lifeguarding/swimming or art.
Our camp does not sort or assign staff based on gender, and all of our bathrooms/showerhouses are all-gender.
Listed dates are our minimum dates, some staff will start earlier in June and/or work until August 14th.
