Camp Overview
Spend your summer on an island! Quinipet, located on Shelter Island, New York, offers a unique beachfront experience, connecting you with nature through the ocean. Quinipet offers both a day and an overnight camp, and a sailing program for boys and girls ages 5-17. Most staff members live in cabins with campers and also teach a program activity, ranging from sports to arts, sailing, and waterfront. Quinipet is accredited by the American Camp Association and owned by the NY Conference of The United Methodist Church.
Explore Surrounding Towns: Shelter Island and nearby towns buzz with summer activities. Our shuttles and provided bikes make it easy for staff to access the vibrant town of Greenport during nights off and days off.
Comfortable Living: Enjoy the camp experience in dorm-style buildings equipped with bathrooms, electricity, and air conditioning. All meals are provided, including on nights and days off. On-site laundry facilities and a Staff Lounge with reliable wifi and amenities enhance your living experience.
Diversity and Inclusivity: Quinipet takes pride in its diverse, international staff. Embrace a warm, inclusive camp energy as we welcome individuals of all religious and non-religious backgrounds. Our progressive Christian camp fosters spiritual growth for everyone.
Staff Appreciation: Recognizing the essential role of staff, we host "Staff Appreciation Parties" every Friday. Nominate peers for "Staff Member of the Week" during Sunday meetings, with winners receiving gift cards to local restaurants.

Staff Time Off
We understand camp work is intense, so we ensure generous breaks. Daily two consecutive hours off, weekly night off, and a day off between sessions provide valuable rest. No campers stay between sessions, allowing staff a true reset.
Staff Qualities
At Quinipet we look for a diverse staff who can bring in their unique qualities and add to our community! Its is important to know we are a Methodist camp and our main emphasis is inclusivity and spirituality. We have had staff and campers of all religions, sexualities, and cultures join us and feel welcomed. We really want our staff to feel comfortable leading an activity in one of our activity areas Outdoor/STEM, Arts, Sports, or Sailing so you can grow and develop your teaching skills. Our staff training will give the opportunity to feel more comfortable in facilitating activities so please come with a skill you want to share!
