Camp Overview
Where the mountain meets the sea...the magic and beauty of Skylark Ranch are waiting for you! Overlooking the Pacific Ocean north of Santa Cruz, Skylark Ranch offers exciting opportunities for the first time camper to those seeking high adventure. We offer trip and travel programs as well as family and troop camping.
Programming at Skylark Ranch:
Camp Skylark Ranch is nestled in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Its camp program is designed to be a travel camp program with Skylark used as both a “base camp” and to host family and troop camping. Programming also consists of archery, art, outdoor cooking, and wildfire ecology.
Living at Skylark Ranch:
Staff at Camp Skylark Ranch should be mentally prepared for adventure and rustic camping. The nature of Travel Camp requires staff to be adaptable, resilient, and patient. Most living accommodations will be tent camping either onsite at camp or in National Parks. Staff live in separate tents from the campers, so you can expect to be housed with other counselors.
Do you have the skills they're looking for?
We asked the camp what positions they are looking to fill at the recruitment fair. Look out for the big thumbs up!
Are you looking to hire counselors with Sports skills at the fair?
Are you looking to hire Waterfront staff and Lifeguards at the fair?
Are you looking to hire counselors with Outdoor Adventure & Nature Skills at the fair?
Are you looking to hire counsellors with Youth Work experience?
Counsellor Roles:
Here's a list of all the positions this camp commonly hires for!
Hmm... What's your role?
Staff Time Off
Each day, you will receive 2 hours of personal time off per day or greater (program dependent) -- for showering, checking emails, etc. On your time off, you are able to leave camp. Transportation is not always provided—you may need to coordinate with other staff. Our camp is remote, located about 1 hour away from Santa Cruz. We do provide transportation for supply runs to stores upon your arrival.
Meals:
We eat meals family style in a dining hall while onsite or a campground while traveling. You will eat your meals with campers and other staff (unless you are on your time off). We serve kid-friendly meals—you should expect things like grilled cheese, tacos, chicken nuggets, pasta, etc. We have a full salad bar at lunch and dinner. We can accommodate most dietary restrictions, including (but not limited to): allergies, vegetarianism, veganism, and gluten free diets.
Staff Qualities
Our participants are ages 7-17, and our camp welcomes anyone who identifies with the girl experience. We follow a culture code that is deeply focused on community, inclusion and belonging. In our staff, we look for role models who are eager to connect with campers, help them feel seen, heard, and accepted, and provide a fun and memorable experience in the outdoors.
