Camp Overview
While every summer at Lanakila comes with new magic and adventures, it also comes imbued with years of tradition and history. Days are full of activities and events experienced by generations of Lanakilians, and at the same time, a change in personality from summer to summer is welcomed and celebrated as new staff and campers join the ranks of long-time Lanakilans.
We are a close-knit, rustically-minded community of men and women who specialize in creating lasting differences and lifelong memories for boys. We believe strongly in a minimalist philosophy that detaches us from our material possessions and asks us to both engage in the natural world as participants, and engage in relationships with the friends and mentors around us; finally, we believe in varied definitions of masculinity, routinely reminding campers and counselors of our camp-wide dictum: “There are many ways to be a man.”

Staff Time Off
Staff are given 5 days off over the course of the summer. They can explore the surrounding area with other counselors. We make drivers and vans available. Once campers go to bed at 8:30 pm, counselors have the evenings off to hang out.
Staff Qualities
We are looking for counselors who are great people. We know that we can teach folks a certain skill or how to be a good counselor. However, we want good people first. We want people who are energetic, love the outdoors, love collaboration, and believe in the strength of community.
