Located in the beautiful Bay Area of California only 1 hour from San Francisco! Via West is a camp dedicated to serving individuals with special needs achieve greater self-sufficiency and lead richer lives. Through a variety of recreational activities such as culinary activities, sports games and arts and crafts, our campers learn how to become more independent. At Via West you will learn many life skills including; team work, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and many more. With employees from all over the Bay Area and all over the world, Via West houses a diverse community of staff where it is easy to make new connections and friends. Staff Time Off
First we will have a 5 day staff training and a short, 3 day session to get to know how our camp works. Then you will work 6 days on, 2 full days off for the rest of the summer. Staff have the opportunity to travel in groups to fun California locations on days off. Counselors do not stay with campers overnight.
Staff Qualities
Caring and compassionate individuals who are interested in helping children and adults with special needs have the best summer ever! Friendly and outgoing with a sense of adventure ready to meet new friends and explore new places. Hard working with plenty of energy to fully enjoy the camp experience. No experience necessary but the willingness to help others and put them first is a must.
