Camp Overview
Wildwood Outdoor Education Center is located on 150 scenic acres in rural Kansas just south of Kansas City. The property includes a private lake, trails, creeks, several hills, and is home to a variety of plants and wildlife. The camp grounds include an in-ground pool, archery range, boating, fishing, challenge course, zipline, giant swing, and rockwall. Cabins include bunkbeds, electricity, air conditioning and bathrooms. Wildwood’s mission is to “bring kids outside to learn and grow together, transforming summer into a season of learning, youth development, and outdoor adventure for low-income Kansas City area youth. We do this with a small staff that feels like a family.

Staff Qualities
Wildwood is looking for caring and compassionate individuals that enjoy the outdoors. It is helpful if individuals are willing to try new things and get creative with solutions to challenges that come up. At Wildwood, our staff thrives by working as a team, so the ability to communicate and work well with others are important qualities to have. We try to hire a diverse staff including those that are either outgoing as well as more quiet staff. We encourage staff to become certified in the following courses that we provide free of charge: Archery, Lifeguard, and Ropes Course. We are a small family and as such being able to connect and support each other is critical to the success of the summer. A "can do" attitude and willingness to step in and help even if it isn't "your job" is essential. Any interest, knowledge, or skill in camp program fields is welcome!
