Camp Overview
YMCA Camp Minikani is a traditional coed overnight and day camp that is over 100 years old! Our camp offers traditional summer camp activities such as Archery, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, horseback riding, rock climbing, etc. Our true focus, however, is on fostering friendships, connecting children with nature, and building character.

Staff Time Off
Whether they are working in day camp or overnight camp, staff get two hours off every day, either from 5:20pm - 7:20pm or 10-12pm. During that time, they are free to leave camp to do whatever they need to do or relax and hang out with other staff members in our staff lodge.
Minikani staff also get 24 hours off every weekend (Saturday to Sunday). Camp will help find our International Staff housing and transportation during off-time.
Staff Qualities
We are looking for enthusiastic, camper-focused individuals! A Camp Minikani counselor must be passionate about working with campers. The physical and emotional safety of campers must be their number one priority over anything else. We also look for counsellors who are relationship builders, not just with campers but with fellow staff members and parents as well. Counselors must be adaptable - when things don't go as planned, they must take responsibility, think on their feet, and make necessary changes to ensure camper experience does not suffer. They must have a high energy level and positive attitude. They must be able to meet a camper "where they are" - to be in tune with each camper's individual needs and be there to meet those needs. Staff should be eager to try new things and step out of their comfort zone!
