YMCA Family Camp Nawakwa is a place for families to come strengthen relationships and create memories together. We strive to be a place for learning, relationship building, nature appreciation, and lots of fun! We have 34 cabins to accommodate family's stays, each with their own kitchen and most have a bathroom. Staff provide the guidance and facilitation of program activities throughout the week to have a fun and safe environment for campers of all ages. Some of our popular activities include tie dye, archery, water carnival, crafts, capture the flag, and singing songs at campfires. You will have the opportunity to work with campers as young as 5 and as old as 90. A benefit of working at Camp Nawakwa is the opportunity to connect with the families and learn what their lives are like. Many are eager to learn more about you and what you enjoy!

Staff Time Off
Time of includes a full day (i.e. Monday) and rotating Saturday nights off. Some evening programs allow staff to be done early and this mainly depends on the week and what programs you are assigned. You must provide notice to the Program Director for any appointments and they will be able to adjust the schedule to allow you time off. Some weeks you may have time off between scheduled programs.
Staff Qualities
Camp Nawakwa is proud of it's excellent customer service and we need you to stay sharp while facilitating programs.Since we are a family camp, we have a community of campers that are very inviting and interested in you. You are expected to converse with the families during program activities & events as well as a simple "hello" if you walk past them. We offer a lot of different activities for campers so we need you to be willing to become an "expert" at the activity (i.e. archery, tie dye, sporting tournaments, singing songs). Please have the initiative to help camp in needed areas like picking up trash when you see it or responding to camper questions at any moment.
