What are Housekeeping & Laundry Jobs Like?
At summer camp, the Housekeeping & Laundry teams typically split their time between keeping cabins and sleeping areas clean and tidy, and making sure everyone’s clothes are washed and dried. Most camps will generally have some form of clean-up system to teach campers responsibility and teamwork, so you’ll mostly just be touching up bits they’ve missed and making sure everyone stays in a healthy environment.

Skills & Experience
-
Past Experience
No past experience is required to join the Housekeeping & Laundry teams at camp, although if you’ve had any past work experience as a cleaner or worked in hospitality then camps will see this as a great advantage.
-
Full Time Student
In order to apply for a Campower role, you must be a student currently in full-time education.
-
Fun & Friendly Attitude
You might be working in the Housekeeping team, but you’re still an integral part of the summer camp experience as a whole. This means Camp Directors will expect you to help make sure their campers enjoy the best summer ever.
By approaching every day and every activity with enthusiasm and fun, you’ll make sure your campers feel the same way too. Face challenges with a smile and the campers will also be much more willing to step out of their own comfort zones and embrace new experiences, especially if they’re first-time campers who might already be feeling a bit unsure or nervous.

Real Experiences
Don't just take our word for it - this is just a snapshot of the amazing summers our participants have had at summer camp and why they keep coming back for more.
Camp is a truly life-changing experience and there is no better way to finish it off than travelling the USA after with all your new camp mates! I have done this every summer and had an incredible time.
Not only do I love everyday camp life and ensuring the campers have the best time possible but I also love connecting with different cultures! Camp is one of the best experiences you can have.
Camp is literally my second home! I cannot wait to be back with my campers and my camp friends. Camp is a place you can completely be yourself and make new memories that will last you a lifetime!
Were my post-camp travels worth it? Would I do it all again? Well, this year will be my third summer in a row… so you tell me!
Going to camp really pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to experience new things, from being trained in how to operate a ropes course to managing a team of staff.
At my camp we had a saying: camp people are the best people! I can say without a doubt the people I met working at summer camp are some of the best people I have ever met.
Can I Get Involved with the Rest of Camp?
Summer camp is all about including everyone and being one big family. You’ll have regular time off between laundry and cleaning cabins, and you’ll be able to use this time to go and join in all the exciting activities on offer at camp. Your accommodation will likely be separate to the campers, but you’ll be close by so make sure you get involved with cabin games and activities too. We recommend you get stuck into everything you possible can!
