The Scholarship
The Izzy Bee Memorial Scholarship is in memory of Izzy McEgan, a former Camp America participant and active Girl Guide. Each year it provides up to £1000 to support the recipient to work at a Girl Scout camp through Camp America. Awarded by the end of April, the fund assists with costs associated with a Camp America application, including CA payments, visa and other costs.
To apply, candidates must be an active member of Girlguiding UK, preferably with a connection to the North-West region, and want to share this experience with a Girl Scout Camp in the US. Consideration will also be given to participants who have completed or are working towards Duke of Edinburgh Gold, Ranger Gold or Queen’s Guide Award.
About Izzy
Isabel “Izzy” McEgan was a Camp America participant who spent the summer of 2019 at Camp Small Valley, a Girl Scout camp in Pennsylvania. An active member of Girlguiding North-West, Izzy also completed her Young Leaders and Chief Guide Qualifications, Baden-Powell Award and Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. She was a mentor and activity leader dedicated to making sure everyone was included and had fun.
Her experience at camp was transformative, meeting an amazing group of people, whose love and positivity brought her so much happiness, including during her cancer diagnosis. These friendships continue to further her legacy and encourage others to #beemoreIzzy.

Real Experiences
Don't take our word for it - this is just a snapshot of the amazing summers our participants have had at summer camp.
I want to go back so I can make more amazing memories, see my friends from camp, see the campers that I had last year and to try out more of the activities at camp.
You are captivated by the surroundings and unplugged from the outside world. It’s an adventure inside a bubble that you never want to pop, full of lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
Camp is one of the best experiences you can have, it allows you to experience new cultures, make new friends and Girl Scout camps are the perfect place to immerse yourself into nature!
Taking the campers out on the lake, doing things they'd never usually have the opportunity or support to do, was the greatest feeling. Seeing them feel like they can do anything was the best!
Camp is the great place to try new activities and make amazing memories as everyone is supportive and happy to help you grow out of your comfort zone while finding your favourite hobbies and interests.
Staff started camp with a mix of experience but none of that mattered. You are well trained and everyone supports each other creating a close-knit community like no other.
